About the Custody Support Officer Role

Custody Support Officers play a vital role assisting police with the safe admission, custody and release of detainees at station-based lockups. This is a physical role in a unique environment where no two days are the same. 

They contribute to the safe, secure and efficient operation of police station lockups by undertaking a range of operational and administrative functions relating to the admission, custody and release of detainees. Custody Support Officers ensure compliance with custodial care and prisoner management lock-up processes.

Career Opportunities in Regional WA

The WA Police Force is hiring for Custody Support Officer roles stationed in regional Western Australia. Positions are being offered on a 12 month contract basis from commencement of training with potential for extension or permanency.  

Successful applicants will undertake training at the WA Police Academy, Joondalup. Accommodation during training will be provided for those travelling from regional Western Australia. 

Housing is not provided in the advertised locations and applicants will be expected to travel within WA on a regular basis as a key component of their duties.
