MEET CADET WILSON

17-years old and straight out of high school, Bella seized the opportunity presented by the police cadet program.

“I saw that there were applications open for police cadets and took this as an opportunity to get some experience in the policing field before I join as a police officer.”

It wasn't just a stepping stone; it was a chance for Bella to immerse herself in the world of policing, gaining invaluable experience and insights before formally embarking on her chosen career path.

Bella’s journey has been a whirlwind of learning and growth. From Midland to Morley, Ellenbrook to Mundaring, she's been to various police stations, absorbing the understandings of law enforcement in different communities.

“I have also been lucky enough to be able to experience policing in the Goldfields – Esperance Region during a two-week secondment at Warburton Multi-Function Police Facility (MFPF). While at Warburton I got to experience regional policing as well as community engagement and youth policing.”

As a cadet, Bella hasn't just observed from the side lines; she's been an active participant in public events, strengthening her confidence and communication skills with every interaction. Whether it was the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the Royal Perth Show, or the 'Thank a First Responder' AFL game, Bella embraced each opportunity to connect with the community.

Her ambitions won't end with her cadetship. With her application to become a police recruit underway, she stands on the edge of an exciting new chapter in her policing career.

"Policing seems to run in my family with my great grandfather and great uncle being police officers for WA Police Force... I am looking forward to the new experiences I have ahead of me. The knowledge and skills I have gained as a police cadet will stay with me for my whole policing career."

Applications are now open for the cadet program, so seize the moment and take the first step towards your exciting journey with the WA Police Force.
